The member of the Commission was elected at the XV Congress of Judges of Ukraine
The delegates of the XV Congress of Judges of Ukraine have elected Mr. Stepan Gladii, judge of the Kyiv Court of Appeal to be the member of the HQCJ. 171 delegates have voted for the candidate.
The remaining votes have been distributed as follows:
Mr. Oleksandr Borovytskii – the judge of the Vinnytsia Administrative Court of Appeal – 24 votes;
Mr. Oleksandr Slipchenko – the judge of the Court of Appeal of Kyiv Region – 67 votes;
Ms. Lyudmyla Solomaha – the judge of the Court of Appeal of Donetsk Region – 36 votes.
After the election, Mr. Stepan Gladii stressed that he will make every possible effort to complete the qualification assessment of the current judges this year: “I will not grudge neither my health nor my time to fulfill the tasks which are facing the HQCJ on behalf of the judicial system as a whole and each of us”. The new member of the Commission thanked the delegates for supporting his candidacy and said: “A person who will come to the HQCJ must properly defend the interests of the entire judiciary as a whole and the interests of each judge. I am convinced, that in the course of the qualification assessment, the judges who are the legacy of the judicial system and those who must transfer their experience and knowledge to young judges should be preserved”.
Mr. Stepan Gladii was born on 20 March, 1964 in the village of Kadubivtsi, Zastavnivskii district, Chernivtsi region. He graduated from the Law Department of the Chernivtsi Cooperative Technical School, and in 1989 – Kharkiv Law Institute named after F.E. Dzerzhinskyi (now – Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University).
In the beginning of his career he worked in the prosecutors’ offices and from 1993 – as a national judge of the Leninskii District Court of Poltava. From 1998 to 2009 – the judge of the Court of Appeal of Poltava Region. During 2002-2008 Mr. Stepan Gladii represented the judiciary of Poltava region in the Qualification Commission of Judges of the General Courts of the Kharkiv Appeal District. In 2008 he was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the Council of Judges of Ukraine and the Supreme Court of Ukraine for high professionalism. Since September 2009 – the judge of the criminal panel of the Kyiv Court of Appeal. His wife is a private notary officer of the Kiev City Notarial District. He has a daughter.
