The term of office of the Public Integrity Council members is being expired

On December 16, 2020, the term of office of the members of the Public Integrity Council elected on December 17, 2018, established by the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges” (hereinafter the Law), is being expired.

It is worth recalling that following parts one and two of Article 87 of the Law, the Public Integrity Council, consisting of twenty members, is established to assist the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine in determining the eligibility of a judge (a judicial candidate) in terms of the criteria of professional ethics and integrity for the purpose of qualification evaluation.

The members of the Public Integrity Council shall be appointed by the meeting of representatives of civic associations for the term of two years (part nine of Article 87 of the Law).

Accordingly, on December 17, 2018, the Public Integrity Council members were appointed by the meeting of representatives of civic associations, which were determined by the Commission as corresponding to the requirements of the Law and are eligible to participate in the meeting.
