The training for mass media representatives was held in Ivano-Frankivsk in the framework of the Ukrainian-Canadian “Support to Judicial Reform in Ukraine Project

On 9 February 2018 in Ivano-Frankivsk, within the framework of the Ukrainian-Canadian Support to Judicial Reform in Ukraine Project the training “The main aspects of making the court’s activities public” was held for the Ivano-Frankivsk mass media representatives. The trainers of the project were the Odessa Administrative Court judge, Ph.D. in Law, the lecturer of the National School of Judges of Ukraine Ms. Larysa Zueva and the dean of the faculty of journalism of the National University “Odessa Law Academy”, the doctor of sciences and social communications, the professor Ms. Tetiana Kuznetsova. The representative of the Communication Committee of the Judicial System, the head specialist of the Sector for Working Support of the Commission’s Leadership Ms. Svitlana Maksymova took part in the training as an expert.

During the event, the queries of the contents and the criteria of the effective communicative interaction between courts and mass media; journalists’ access to the court hearing; photo and video shooting in the courtroom; access to court decisions and materials of the court proceedings were discussed. Ms. Svitlana Maksymova briefed the journalists present on the main activities of the Communication Committee of the Judicial System and the main provisions of the Memorandum on Cooperation of the Representatives of the Judicial System of Ukraine, signed by the HQCJ, the HCJU, the NSJU, the Supreme Court and the CJU.

At the end of the event, the journalists noted the important role of such training sessions and emphasized that recently the judiciary had become more open to society.
