Training workshop for the HQCJ Members was held

On January 16, 2019, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) New Justice Sector Reform Program a training workshop on “Interviewing Techniques and Practices: Analysis of Past Experience and Skills Improvement Plan” for members of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was held.

The purpose of the seminar was to improve the communicative professional skills of the HQCJ Members necessary within the framework of the Commission’s procedures regarding judge’s career; to consider the structure of the interview and study best international practises in this area.

In particular, Ms. Natalia Kadia, expert of the USAID New Justice Program spoke about indicators of a successful interview with judges and candidates for judicial positions, evaluating a candidate’s motivation, psychological atmosphere during the interview, possible unconscious prejudices that may affect the assessor, non-verbal communication, etc.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) New Justice Sector Reform Program (New Justice Program) started implementation in Ukraine in October 2016.

The purpose of the program is to provide support to the judiciary, the Government, the Parliament, civil society and people of Ukraine in implementing judicial reform, taking into account the constitutional changes of 2016 and the Strategy for Reforming the judiciary, justice and related legal institutes for years 2015-2020.

New Justice Program builds its functioning on the achievements of previous USAID Projects, “Ukraine: Rule of Law” and “Fair Justice” and uses their achievements to coordinate close cooperation with Ukrainian partners, USAID projects, the US Government and other projects of international donor organizations in Ukraine.
