Ukrainian experience of selection and appointment of judges was discussed in the Republic of Belarus with participation of the Commission’s member
On June 30, 2019, in the city of Mohyliov, the Republic of Belarus, the member of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Pavlo Lutsiuk took part in the event devoted to the Day of Advocacy.
The solemn meeting, in particular, considered the issue of selecting and appointing judges on the example of Ukraine in the context of discussing possible changes to the legislation of Belarus in the field of judicial career.
Pavlo Lutsiuk spoke about the main changes in the system of selection of judges that took place as a result of the judicial reform in Ukraine, namely: filling all vacant positions of judges only on the basis of an open competition, introducing the live broadcast of interviews with candidates for the judicial position on the YouTube Channel of the Commission, introducing the procedure of evaluation of moral and ethical qualities and general skills, involvement of public representatives in the procedure, etc.
The event was also attended by deputies of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, judges and more than 200 lawyers from all regions of the country.
