Working meeting of the Commission Chairman with representatives of the OSCE took place
On 10 February 2017 Mr. Sergii Koziakov the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine and Mr. Andrii Vasylenko Member of the Qualification Chamber of the Commission met with experts of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rightsand with the representatives of OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine.
The working meeting was dedicated to discussing issues related to the adoption and implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges” as of 02.06.2016 No. 1402-VIII (hereinafter the Law), which is currently at the consideration of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in order to provide an opinion on its compliance with the OSCE standards and parties’ commitments.
In particular, the parties discussed key aspects of the Law in the context of provisions of the Constitution of Ukraine in the current version and its amendments thereto made on 6 and 21 December 2016 accordingly. During the conversation, there were also discussed general queries regarding judicial reform in Ukraine including holding by the Commission the competition to the Supreme Court.
At the end of the meeting, guests thanked for informative conversation and assured in their readiness to continue providing necessary expert assistance to the Commission during the further implementation of judicial reform in Ukraine.
