Working meeting with the international expert of the Council of Europe Ms. Diana Kovacheva was held
On 12 February 2018, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine hosted a working meeting with the international expert of the Council of Europe, Doctor of international law and international relations Ms. Diana Kovacheva, “Support to the implementation of the judicial reform in Ukraine” Project Manager Mr. Andrii Kavakin and the Project Officer Ms. Inna Linova.
At the meeting Ms. Kovacheva's draft opinion, that evaluates the compliance of the Ukrainian legislation governing the procedure for selecting candidates to the Supreme Court with the standards and recommendations of the Council of Europe, was presented.
During the meeting the members of the Commission commented on the text of the document and responded to the expert’s questions regarding clarifications on the procedure. The parties also discussed the practical aspects of the implementation of the competition procedures and outlined possible ways of their improvement through amending the existing normative legal acts.
Ms. Kovacheva also noted the high level of transparency of the competition procedures and thanked the Commission for providing all the information necessary for drafting the document.
At the event the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was represented by the Chairman Mr. Sergii Koziakov, the Secretary of the Qualification Chamber Mr. Stanislav Shchotka, the member of the Qualification Chamber Mr. Andrii Vasylenko and the member of the Chamber for Selection and Public Service of Judges Mr. Andrii Kozlov.
