Working visit to the Republic of Estonia took place

On 14-18 February 2017, a representative of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine took part in the working visit to Tallinn (the Republic of Estonia) within the delegation of Ukraine. The visit was devoted to familiarization with the communication system of the Estonian Government in the judicial area and was financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.

In the frameworks of the event, the delegation visited the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Estonia, where delegates had an opportunity to talk with representatives of the Department of Communications and familiarized with the peculiarities of the judicial system of the Republic of Estonia.

Also, the delegation visited the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Estonia where Ukrainian guests were shown specially equipped rooms for press conferences and other procedures of communication with the media and were told about the registration process for participation of press representatives in such events.

The meeting agenda also included visits to the Estonian Parliament. In particular, participants of Ukrainian delegation met with Mr. Ken-Marti Vaher, the Head of the Constitutional Committee in the Estonian Parliament and former Minister of Justice and Domestic Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, and discussed the current problems of the Republic of Estonia in the judicial system, and steps taken by the government in solving them.

Ukrainian representatives have also reported on the progress of judicial reform in Ukraine, informing about a number of important changes for strengthening the independence and transparency of the judicial system of Ukraine taken to restore public confidence in the judiciary.

In addition, the delegation visited the Office of the Government of the Republic of Estonia. Representatives of the office presented features of the functioning of the government communication system, its main objectives, principles, and practices.
