Workshop on Current Issues of Gender Policy, 25-26 May, 2015
During the period of 25-26 May 2015 the USAID FAIR Justice Project together with USAID Program “RADA: responsibility, accountability and democratic parliamentary representation” and with the assistance of the Parliament of Ukraine and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Ukraine held a seminar on "Current issues of gender policy."
The seminar was attended by gender plenipotentiaries of the committees and structural units of the Parliament of Ukraine and designated representatives of central executive and judicial bodies.
The Higher Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was represented by Mrs Inna Piddubna, Head of Special Inspections Sector of the Human Resources Division.
The purpose of the seminar was to raise awareness of the representatives of legislative, central executive and judicial bodies with the basic ideas of gender policy. In particular, the participants of the seminar discussed gender-related legal expertise with taking into account the principle of equal rights and opportunities for women and men in labor policy and developed proposals for action plans to implement the Law of Ukraine on Ensuring Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men.
During the event the attendees were acquainted with international commitments and national legislation regarding ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men, the basics of gender analysis in the legislative process and drafting gender aspects.
