On February 28, 2025, a regional Q&A session of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine with lawyers interested in participating in the selection of judges to local courts took place in Kyiv.
The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Commission Oleksii Omelian, the HQCJU members Nadiia Kobetska, Ruslan Melnyk and Roman Sabodash, as well as Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy Denys Maslov, MPs Pavlo Pavlish, Roman Babii and Maksym Dyrdin.
During the Q&A session, the key aspects of the judicial selection procedure and the specifics of the candidates’ submission of documents were discussed. In particular, the Commission members answered the questions:
- regarding the electronic key for signing documents;
- regarding professional experience;
- regarding cognitive abilities testing and testing on the history of Ukrainian statehood;
- regarding completing a practical assignment;
- regarding the selection deadlines;
- regarding documents and declarations;
- general.
The event in Kyiv was the final one after the sessions in Lviv, Dnipro, Kharkiv and Odesa.
Please be reminded, that in December 2024, the Commission announced the selection of judges to local courts with a projected number of 1,800 vacancies. The deadline for submitting applications and documents for participation in the selection is from March 01, 2025, to March 30, 2025 inclusive. The period for submitting documents for military personnel is from March 01, to May 01, 2025 inclusive.
